Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2022: The Big Sailing Event

Another great edition of the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing has come to an end.

Through exciting races, social moments between sailors and Lusíadas’ emplyees, health conferences about food and slee… The main goal was to spread healthy living.

As per usual, this event held the Women On Water Portugal, a regatta exclusive for female teams, and the XII Regata do Infante – a regatta that once again gathered a record number of 57 yachts on Portugal’s North Atlantic Waters.

Besides its sports side, this event has a major focus on social and physical inclusion or, as we like to put it, non-exclusion. It’s the second consecutive year in which the project “S!M Somos Capazes” (“Yes, We Can Do It”) has joined the party with coffee selling, musical shows and the trophy “Yes, We Can Race!” well diserved since, for the first time in history, they finished the XII Regata do Infante race using all their acquired sailing knowledge throughout the year.

This was an event not to forget that has established itself as the Porto Sailing Party, always with inclusion standards. This was the big Lusíadas Porto Sailing Party!

Second and Last Day of the Women On Water Portugal Regatta

It’s the end of another great championship organized by BBDouro with the support of Lusíadas Saúde that celebrated all the female sailors around the world.

Seven crews fought for the title of best female sailing team in Portugal. Throughout the two days of racing, the team that led the fleet was “Miúdas” – translates to “Girls” – with the skipper Margarida Aguiar, thus taking home the trophy and the qualification for the Women’s Sailing Champions League, ocurring in Switzerland.

Big Presence of the S!M Project at the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing

It’s not the first time that the Association “S!M Somos Capazes” – translated to “Yes, We Can Do It” – takes a role at the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing event. Despite that, this year the S!M folks overcame all the expectations.

The S!M Porject was responsible for the coffee sale at the event and also hosting musical shows, but this was the year in which they participated throughout the entire second leg of the XII Regata do Infante regatta. They sailed from the Douro Marina up to Porto de Leixões (way North!), on a friendly onboard environment that included singing and learning with their beoved Skipper and friend Gonçalo Costa Fonseca.

To watch the joy and feeling of acomplishment of these participants that are so special was a unique scenario.

Yes, they can do regattas!

Yes, they can sell coffees to build themselves a better future!

Yes, they have a band, “No Name” (yet!)

Yes, they fullfill everyone’s hearts.

Big Day 1 for the Women On Water Portugal Racers

Today was the first racing day of the Women On Water Portugal 2022, with 7 concurring teams! We were able to make 12 of the 14 predicted Qualifying Series for the day. Tomorrow will decide which teams are qualified for the semi-final and which ones will need to battle eachother in the “repéchage”. At the moment, the fleet is lead by the team “Miúdas” – translates to “Girls” – with Margarida Aguiar at the helm, followed by the team “Cheers” in second place with the skipper Teresa Borges Coutinho and Raquel Sousa’s team “Sweet&Salty” in the third place. Tomorrow more races will happen with similar conditions.

Another Record Regatta in the Northern Portugal

The 17th of September was the day where the mythical “XII Regata do Infante” took place, with a record number of 57 yachts.

The first racing course of the day started at the Marina de Liexões in Matosinhos and finished in the Historical Centre of Porto, in the Douro River. After a good lunch at the Douro Marina, the teams went for the second and final phase of the regatta with a start in front of the Douro Marina (in the Douro River) and finish line at the Porto de Leixões in Matosinhos.

We would like to thank all of the participants in this regatta, that took part in an amazing scenario of 57 sailing vessels together inside the river.

It’s ON!

Tomorrow starts the third consecutive year of the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing. Once again, this event will be inclusive and open to the general public, holding activities at the Douro Marina and also in the Douro River and Porto de Leixões.

We look forward to watch the Douro Marina getting crowded with participants and the Douro River full of boats participating in the Women On Water Portugal and the XII Regata do Infante.

To Know How to Care is to Promote Healthy Living

One of the biggest Sailing Events in Portugal is back! This year, with another conscious and defying subject: ‘Knowing How to Care is Pormoting Healthy Living’!

On the 17th and 18th of september, the Douro Marina will hold one of the most emblematic sailing events in Northern Portugal – the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing. BBDouro, with the marvellous support of Lusíadas Saúde, enforces its role in the nacional sport inviting everyone to participate at the Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 202. This event gathers the 12th edition of the “Regata do Infante” and the 3rd edition of the “Women On Water Portugal” in Porto.

After in 2022 the thought of inclusion and diversity was the challenge proposed to the Participants, this year the focus of the event is the framing of sport in a healthy and active lifestyle. In addition to the sporting events, we will have dedicated lectures led by Specialists on the various topics and, among others, pilates classes on land. BBDouro and Lusíadas Saúde do not fail to support inclusion so, considering different characteristics and limitations, this event is prepared for everyone. Also, environmental preservation and awareness will be a fundamental pillar of this event!

As usual, we will also have several moments dedicated to the Lusíadas Saúde community and their families, including the usual Family Walk, where Employees and their families sail with BBDouro on the Douro River.

Lusíadas Saúde Porto Sailing 2022 has an agenda prepared for sailing aficionados, but also for everyone who wants to arrive, get to know and be impacted by this challenging and fun weekend!
